The Simonis family has been making wine from vines in Ammerschwihr since the 17th century. In 1969, Rene replanted the family vineyard, and in 1995 he passed the torch to his son, Etienne, who has since received organic and biodynamic certifications. All of the work in the vineyard and in the winery is done by hand, and wines are stored in oak casks from the 1950s, as well as steel tanks. The wines are pure, clean, and thoroughly Alsatian.
